Panna National Park
Panna is an exciting story of conservation success. A few years ago, poachers managed to empty the forest of it’s entire Tiger population. What started as a sad day for tiger projects in India, was soon looked at as an opportunity to learn and prove that no one could ruin India’s will to protect its national animal. After a short study, some relocations, and constant monitoring, this forest is now a success story. Today, several well-protected tigers and cubs roam freely in the deciduous forest. The guides now have extra love for the animal they helped to bring back and the positive energy around this forest in unmatched. You can listen to happy stories and also take time to appreciate the other wildlife in this reserve. Wait by the Ken River to watch Dhole, Indian fox, Sambar Deer, Mugger Crocodiles, and Caracals quench their thirst. Bring your binoculars to spot some of the 200 species of birds that live here, including Paradise Flycatcher, the state bird of Madhya Pradesh.
